The annual Summer Solstice tournament is Eugene’s premier Ultimate Frisbee event.

The two–day event is held every year on or near the summer solstice, June 21st. The tournament has been held every year since 1979. At 29 years and counting, it is one of the longest-running Ultimate tournaments in the world. This year we turn 30 – come join the party!

We offer men's and women's open and elite divisions, and co-ed club and rec-level divisions. The elite division draw the top men's and women's club teams from around the Northwest, Southwest and Rocky Mountain regions. In 2007, Seattle's Sockeye and Bay Area's Zeitgeist took home the coveted men's and women's champions T-shirts, respectively. The open division offers men's and women's tournament-style play for teams and players not involved in elite club play. We encourage all city league, co-ed and small-town Ultimate players to come experience Solstice. The open division is very diverse and always competitive.

Solstice started as a way to bring teams from California and the Pacific Northwest together for spirited play. The tourney has always embraced great spirit, and that continues today. Solstice was once known for fire-walking, all-night parties out in the bush; the parties in the woods have fallen victim to the times, but we still offer up lively Saturday night festivities in town!

Dates: June 21st and 22nd, 2008

Adult Fees: Men's elite: $450 per club (covers observers). Rec-level coed: $250, plus $10 per non-UPA player (their rules, not ours). Women's and open men: $350.

Bids due June 1; bids accepted through June 13 with $50 late fee. No refunds for teams that drop after June 13.

Accommodations: Hotel space is sparse, so make a reservation today: Go to www.visitlanecounty.org or get help from the local tourism organization at 1 800 547 5445. Discounts unlikely, but tell them you're coming in for the "Summer Solstice Ultimate Tournament" and they'll do their best to find you a bed.
